The Stig is a character on the British motoring television show Top Gear. The character is a play on the anonymity of racing drivers’ full-face helmets, with the running joke that nobody knows who, or indeed what, is inside the Stig’s racing suit. The show has gone to great lengths to protect the identity of the characters… often fighting to preserve anonymity in court. This article looks at a large number of the variations of the character that has appeared on the program.
Black Stig (1st Stig)
The Black Stig was the first Stig of the newly formatted Top Gear with Jeremy Clarkson. He served for the first two series of the show, before being killed off by driving a modified Jaguar XJ-S off the deck of HMS Invincible.
White Stig (2nd & 3rd Stig)
By far the most recognizable Stig, White Stig was used for more than just the power laps, and was considered one of the shows presenters. The third Stig was found in Bethlehem, when the trio went in search for the baby Jesus. Once baby Stig was old enough to drive, he became Top Gear's new Stig.
The Stig's African cousin was black, wore only Puma shoes, a loincloth and his’ iconic white helmet
The Stig's Australian cosuin wore dusty white overalls, thongs and had a large "gentleman's sausage"
Australian Stig (2)
Another reiteration of Australian Stig. Freshly shipped from Aussie Land.
Backwoods Stig is a Top Gear USA Stig, where he raced an off-road racing truck against a kayak. The Backwoods Stig wears a dusty white racing overalls with torn-off sleeves, revealing his muscly arms. Some say he's shredded. I heard he has an 8-pack.
Also referred to as Big Stig, Stig's American Cousin was rather on the large side was nicknamed "Big Stig" by the presenters because of his obese appearance and was noted by Clarkson to have a "very relaxed driving style".
Stig's Chinese cousin is a master of martial arts, who enjoys attacking the film crew, track marshals and kicking James in the plums.
The Stig's communist cousin is shown riding a motorbike wearing a red jumpsuit, and being ridden by the motorbike, as a Russian Reversal.
Stig's German cousin, nicknamed "Herr Stig" and "Stiggy Ray Cyrus" (a parody of Billy Ray Cyrus), wearing white overalls and with a mullet haircut.
