Those Magnificent Men In Their Vintage Flying Machines

What’s often described as the “pioneering era” of aviation is often considered to be from the Wright’s first flight on 17 December 1903, and the First World War. Once the aircraft was identified as a significant weapon, development accelerated and became more commercial. Until that time, however, aircraft were like modern day drones – parts, engines, and construction was affordable and unregulated, meaning that many were involved.
